The two current 9th Ward dogs up for adoption, Bart and Pauline, are both doing fabulously!
Bart is a 5-month-old mystery mix pup (perhaps mostly beagle?), found in the Florida Area last week. He was worm and flea infested and malnourished, but is recovering nicely from all those issues. He was sprung from the vet today and is off to his new foster home! Hurray! Thanks to foster mom Debbie of the West Bank!
Bart is searching for an active home with time for love and training. He was born under vacant houses and has lived there since. This hasn't slowed him down -- he's a happy little guy who loves everything! He may love cats a little too much, though, so I prefer a home with no cats. If you are interested in Bart, please contact me at kellygaus@gmail.com
Pauline has been with me for about a week, and was boarded at Prytania Veterinary Hospital for three weeks before that. She was suffering from severe demodex mange, secondary infections, and malnutrition when I found her in the Florida Area in May. She is doing so great now -- loves to play, play, play!
Pauline needs a home with pit (or similar breed) experience. She is great with other dogs but plays ROUGH, and may be too rough for small dogs or small children. She is gentle with people and never met a stranger. She is super-well crate trained and about 70% house trained. She is also leash trained and has some obedience commands. Pauline is not a guard dog -- she loves everyone!
If you are interested in Pauline, please contact me at kellygaus@gmail.com. Pauline requires 2x daily medications, and will for several months, as well as weekly medicated baths. She's a special needs girl, but she will make a very special family a very special friend!
