introducing Amber!

Amber was found suffering from severe demodex mange earlier this week by a wonderful fellow rescuer. Thankfully, D9 has been able to take in this poor baby! Amber is a 6-month-old, 37-pound pit pup. She is the sweetest, most affectionate girl you'll ever meet, despite her condition! She is playful with other dogs and loving and gentle with people. She appears to have a little bit of basic obedience and must have had a home at one point in time -- but judging from her condition, it must have been a long time ago!

Amber is fawn with white on her nose and feet; she sort of appears brindle in the pictures, but that's actually just patches where her fur has fallen out due to mange. Other than the demodex, she is a pretty healthy little girl: heartworm negative, no signs of infection. She will need oral liquid meds for the demodex for several months. We hope she will be spayed and chipped next week.

Amber is currently boarding at the vet, but hopefully will be in a foster home next week. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Amber, or if you can spare a few dollars towards her veterinary costs (likely a total of around $800, including spay), please contact me at kellygaus@gmail.com. Amber's adoption fee is $100, to help cover the costs of her treatment.
